The Jewish House was established 25 years ago by brothers Roger and Anthony Clifford. The brothers donated a large house on Flood Street in Bondi to be the site for a counselling service to attend to the needs of teenagers and others who were affected by drug and alcohol abuse and also to battle the fast growing popularity of cults at the time.

Since its establishment, the Jewish House has grown to become a welcome refuge for an ever expanding range of people from all walks of life. The counselling centre has expanded to include a crisis accommodation, a telephone counselling centre, group therapy sessions and lectures on a wide range of topics concerning relationships and healthy living.

The Jewish House has now grown to be a pre-eminent institution in the provision of crisis services. However, its focus is to deliver these many services in a strong and caring manner. The Jewish House was always and continues to be an institution of people helping people.
